See
and explore New York through the eyes of a New Yorker
Fee: 10 hour NYC photo
excursion $200 per person (does not include transportation or meals)
Come along on a "digital field trip," to New
York City with Lenscapes photographers, Melissa Cherniske and Emery Roth. We'll meet
at Wingdale Station on the Harlem River Line. Shooting
may start before the train arrives. Wear your walking shoes and bring your camera questions
and uncertainties. The train ride down is for sharing our backgrounds, identifying
priorities, and discussing composition.
Throughout the day, Ted will guide the group to view the city in ways you may never have viewed it before, see things you may not have known existed. This is not a sight seeing tour of Manhattan; this is a hands-on workshop that will focus on visual composition, with diverse content. Learn practical tricks-of-the-trade in camera operation and artistic composition. This workshop is only open to six participants so please register early.
The annual Feast of San Gennaro in Little Italy is the oldest, biggest, and most famous of street festivals. It's a short walk from there to Washington Square in the heart of Greenwich Village or to the fish vendors on the streets of Chinatown. We'll have to make choices, but there's no better time or place to catch the exctiement of the city.
The following skills will be addressed in this
workshop:
• basics of camera operation, including,
where appropriate, manual exposure settings (ISO, aperture, shutter speed, depth
of field)
• selecting lenses and understanding their effects on
composition
• strategies for stalking shooting locations and good shots
•
principles & evaluation of image composition
• understanding and using
qualities of natural light
